UPDATE: A new law known as “Chancen-Aufenthaltsrecht” has been recently introduced: It is intended to enable people with a “Duldung” to obtain a permanent right to stay. According to the law, the time you stayed in Germany with a “Duldung light” is also counted as your pre-“Duldung” period.
